Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is a group of 17-second graders who are energetic, creative, and ambitious learners. They are a wonderful group of students who are hard working and motivated to excel in their academic growth. They all love to read and usually have their noses behind books!
Most of my students derive from low-income families and are socioeconomically disadvantaged.
More than half are English Learners and six are students with disabilities. Despite socioeconomic challenges, my students always enter the classroom with a smile on their face and are eager to learn.
For my students with special needs, it is necessary that they are provided with resources to support their academic, behavior, and social-emotional needs.
My Project
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my students are participating in distance learning. I would like to use these books as an opportunity to read to my students from home. These books will help enhance my students' social-emotional learning from a distance. Social emotional learning promotes positive learning.
All my students, with and without special needs, benefit from social emotional learning because it encourages positive development in self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
Social and emotional learning will enhance my students' ability to succeed inside and outside the classroom. These classroom supplies and teaching resources will help me in providing my students with fun and interactive reading lessons from my home to theirs. Most importantly, I will be given the opportunity to read these wonderful books and spread positive messages to my students. Thank you in advance for your support and contributions!
