Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with a lively group of students with learning difficulties. They struggle to complete academic tasks without lots of repetition and practice. They love when learning becomes a game and they can interact with what they are learning.
My students are filled with a love of life and learning.
They don't let their disabilities hold them back from accomplishing new skills and meeting new goals. They enjoy being active and playing at recess. They are in need of some equipment to allow them to get their energy out, while also being able to interact with other students on the playground.
My Project
My students need sidewalk chalk in order to carry their learning into the great outdoors. We can use the chalk outside to practice spelling our sight words, writing numbers, and the writing the alphabet. It also allows my students the ability to interact with others students by sharing the equipment so that they can develop important life skills.
Sports equipment allows them to play and enjoy time with peers, while learning important life skills of cooperation and fitness.
My students need a basketball, a soccer ball, and playground balls so that they can interact with other students on the playground. We also need a wheeled cart to carry our new outdoor supplies in. Their disabilities can often hinder their ability to interact with peers in the classroom, but on the playground, they are on a level playing field and can interact with peers without difficulty.
