My students need different assortments of balls and sports equipment such as two footballs, six volleyballs and net and six ragballs to teach teams sports and teamwork during our P.E. classes.
Remember the first time you were part of a team and you had to work together with others to achieve success? I want my students to discover that feeling through sports.
We are an average size elementary school with a very diverse student body.
We have students from many different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. There are approximately 400 students at the school. I teach grades Pre-K through 5. P.E. is 45 minutes long and students attend 5 days a week.
My Project
My students need different assortments of balls and sports equipment such as two footballs, six volleyballs and net and six ragballs to teach teams sports and teamwork during our P.E. classes. These resources will allow me to open up a whole new world to my students. I will introduce them to team sports. There are many activities taught in P.E. but most are individual activities. I will be able to teach football, baseball, softball, basketball, kickball and volleyball. I have room for possibly two fields. I want to create leagues and teach the students to compete with and against one another. I want them to learn how to win and lose with dignity and respect for each other.
I want my students to learn that if a team is successful then the individuals on that team are successful too.
I also want them to learn that no one should go through success or failure alone. When we are successful we should share that with others. When we have failure our friends or teammates should be there for support. No one needs to go through this world alone.
