Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

As the Technology Teacher at PS 306 a K-5 school, I help to organize Field Day that the second and third grade classes participate in each year in June. The purpose of this event is to extend the physical education curriculum beyond what can be offered in regular physical education classes, to expose students to new sports and activities. This can lead to a healthy lifestyle, and students will enjoy a fun field day near the end of the school year. This year we are planning to hold this event at Bear Mountain State Park in Bear Mountain, New York. At our Field Day event, students will have the chance to select from a variety of activities which may be of interest to them, such as: basketball, football, softball, soccer, jump roping, and hoola hooping. I am requesting sports equipment in basketball, football, softball, soccer, jump roping, and hoola hooping, for the students to use during Field Day and afterwards during Physical Education Class. The activities will expand upon skills taught in physical education class or allow students to try something new.
