Help me give my students some needed equipment to ensure they have a successful season. These items will prevent me from having to spend so much of my personal funds to ensure the success of my team.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I serve as the head softball coach for an inner-city high school. The students my school serves are mostly disadvantaged and live in poverty. Last year, I was blessed to receive a donation of cleats to aid those who were unable to purchase them. The uniforms that the softball team wore were purchased by me as well as the softball gloves that the team utilized.
Since softball is a sport that does not generate funds, a lot of things that we may need come directly from my personal salary.
Sometimes I have to make sacrifices at home to ensure we have the things we need to have a successful season including paying for transportation to and from our games (both home and away) that are not played at the school.
My Project
Softball is a sport that does not generate funds to sustain the program. Most of the young ladies who are interested in playing softball want to participate; however, some often declined due to circumstances both at school and home. Due to limited resources and equipment, I am left to purchase the things needed for my young ladies that actually play on the team.
The equipment requested will be very beneficial to their success as we get ready to embark on a 2021-2022 season later in the spring.
