I am a preschool teacher with a classroom full of 4 and 5 year old students. These students come from low-income families that face many challenges on a daily basis. I am looking to provide a variety of ways to give them quality learning experiences while preparing them for Kindergarten.
My students are imaginative, playful and have a desire to learn.
While they all receive free breakfast, lunch and a snack, this only equips their bodies to be able to learn. Through positive attention and hands on learning, my students explore and learn about a variety of topics.
Many materials are not an option at home so we do our best to provide what we can for them while they are at school. We want to make learning fun and set them up for a successful future and continue their love of learning.
Our students come to school with basic necessities to survive. Things such as outdoor gear are not always a given. Thankfully, our classroom provides Oakiwear suits that were provided through a local grant so we are able to go outside when it's wet.
However, many children do not have proper outdoor shoes.
These rain boots will allow us to go outside and explore nature even when it is raining or wet. We will be able to explore the differences between sunny and rainy, see different bugs and insects, experience different seasons and explore nature. This will also allow us to keep our students completely dry and comfortable while learning.
