These decodable readers will enhance our ESL classroom group texts by phonics concepts. Currently, we have a few series of decodable readers but not enough sets of a title for each student to have their own copy during small group reading and independent reading. We only have the first two sets from the S.P.I.R.E collection, but need additional sets to support more phonics concepts taught in the classroom. In addition, these decodable readers are high quality that follows the Orton-Gillingham sequence for teaching reading. These decodable readers will support my students who are all English Learners. Many of these learners are also students with disabilities who will benefit from reading these decodable readers.
In order to become stronger readers, students need the opportunity to practice reading phonics patterns learned in texts.
This will give students a purpose for reading and improve their fluency and comprehension. Students will enjoy reading these books as these books will be at their independent reading level.
