I teach first grade at a pre-k to 4th grade school in a small rural town that does not even have a stop light as you pass through.

I have 28 wonderful students who enjoy working cooperatively together. My students come in with a smile on their faces and are excited to learn. Unfortunately we do not have all of the resources we need to keep up with the constantly evolving technology.

My Project

We have just finished reading Charlotte's Web. I would like to divide the students into smaller collaborative groups in which they would each take seven to eight chapters of the book. With their assigned chapters, they would create a play using their groups' assigned iPad. By creating the film this ensures the students' knowledge and understanding of the text on a deeper level. I will know that they can do more than comprehend the story. This activity would connect our English Language Arts lessons to Arts and Film. By connecting these two subject areas, I am empowering my students through art!

The donations to my project will change my students' lives for the better by putting more technology in their hands.
