My Students

My students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, and many are living in homes that are below the poverty line.

All of our students receive free lunch.

Our school is one of the most ethnically diverse schools in Philadelphia. Students speak a multitude of languages including English and Spanish. As diverse as our students are culturally, they are just as diverse in their academics. We currently have 1,500 students enrolled from grades 6th-8th. Funds are extremely tight in the School District of Philadelphia, and our students need every resource they can get.

My Project

This game was introduced to me during a professional development demonstration and I know my students will love playing this fun and engaging game. They will learn/use various skills when playing this game with their classmates.

Spikeball incorporates many skills students can use later on in life; communication, teamwork, and coordination.

This game will help students work on these skills, and also they will learn to communicate with other classmates that they normally do not interact with. They will be using their critical thinking skills to determine how to react to their opponent's attack all while having fun and staying active.
