Resilient, eager, and hungry for new experiences, the 7th grade students in my science class are ready for more! They have overcome many obstacles this school year. They are maturing and realizing that the world is larger than our little county. Before this point, they were rarely able to experience coding or robotics. Now that their feet are wet, they are hungry for more opportunities in these areas. Unfortunately, the majority of my students come from low income households. Many do not have internet access at home and only get access to technology experiences through the school.
A Sphero in our classroom will allow students to work towards learning both independently and in cooperative groups, continue improving coding skills, and complete STEM projects.
This amazing little tech tool will advance the opportunities for students to experience activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
My Project
This Sphero coding robot will add to the STEM learning stations available to students in my classroom. With class sizes ranging from fifteen to twenty-nine students, adding the Sphero station will make STEM stations easier to access for both early finishers and advanced students. Several of my students with special needs have also found their niche in robotics and coding.
Students will be able to complete activities such as "Program a Maze" and "Make Sphero Dance" at this station.
A Sphero coding robot just might be the inspiration that is needed for some pretty important tech related careers. Let's make this happen!
