The cost of a classroom set of "Horrible Harry Moves up to Third Grade" and other children's texts is $146, including shipping and <a target="new" href="http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm" onclick="g_openWindow('http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm', 300, 800, 'fulfillwindow');return false;">fulfillment</a>.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My second graders started the year far, far below grade level in reading. In order to achieve our class literacy goal, our class has been doing 8-12 sight words each week as spelling words. As a culminating activity, I plan to invite all of the parents in my class to attend a class spelling bee. I would like to give each child a book for participating, as well as give some nice prizes to my top three winners. I hope that offering these prizes will both make my students more excited about studying for the spelling bee (and learning their sight words!) and also make them ALL feel like they were winners, even if they were not able to spell as many words correctly as another student.
