This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students love exploring the concepts of science; however, we don't always have the tools we need to do so.
My students are 122 gifted first through fourth graders.
They come together once a week from five different elementary schools to explore the world of learning in a different way from their regular classroom setting. In this age of test-driven instruction, this is the one day of the week when they are free to explore their passions.
My Project
My students need these stopwatches and meter sticks to conduct math and science experiments. We recently received a kit from Hot Wheels to explore energy, force and motion and speed. However, after opening the kit, we discovered we did not have the materials necessary to conduct most of the activities, which required measuring time and distance. Through this project, I am hoping to gather all the needed materials for my students to be able to learn more about force and motion.
Having these meter sticks and stop watches available will allow my all of my students to work in collaborative groups to conduct science experiments in speed, energy, force and motion.
