My students need the Rubik's cubes because it is a puzzle stigmatic for geniuses and it is devoid of any subjectivity.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Algebra I and Algebra A to 14-15 year-old students with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments within our general education and special needs in our high school that serves 100% low-income students. I use an Internet Math curriculum on www.aleks.com. It allows each individual student to have individualized personalized learning paths. I work with each student individually to help them understand the concepts that they are working and this means I am popping around the room tutoring, teaching, assisting and also using students who have the highest percentages in the class to become student tutors therefore developing student leaders.
With this style of personalized learning in the classroom, it is most beneficial and imperative to have a personalized set-up with collaborative tables that can move into collaborative inner circles or self-directed sections in the room.
Among the mathematical problem solving they will be learning through word problems, I would like to introduce another style of learning and improving skill through the Rubik's cube.
My Project
We will learn once a week that conquering the impossible starts by simply making moves. The Rubik's cubes will make a difference in students' learning because it is a puzzle stigmatic for geniuses and it is devoid of any subjectivity. Our scholars will learn to solve the cube in 1½ minutes.
It is important for mathematic students to reason deductively, avoid quitting when faced with a challenge but rather learn structure, remember how to use structures to solve, and increase their memory, metacognition and intuition when faced with any problem whether it be math, rubik's cube or life in general.
