Speech Therapy Materials for a First Year Therapist
Help me give my students some additional learning materials such as articulation card decks, sequencing stories, and vocabluary photo puzzles as I begin my first year as a speech therapist and begin to add great materials to help students.
My students are K-5th grade and they are all pulled from their classes weekly for additional speech therapy services. I help with articulation development and language skills. Many of my students are English language learners and have difficulty with understanding classroom material and expressing their questions and thoughts due to learning English as their second language. I also have a handful of students with Autism who require structured, visual, and fun activities in speech therapy.
My students are highly motivated and eager to come to school to receive the attention from teachers and myself.
results in highly motivated students. Our students may have grown up up in and continue to live in poverty; some might not get the attention they need from parents.
Many of these students are diagnosed with developmental delays and need a lot of additional instruction to succeed in the general classroom.
These materials will be used in my small speech room in the basement of the school, where I bring kids for our speech sessions. Lots of children have articulation delays and would benefit from the speech cards. We would use them for drill-based therapy and fun games like memory and matching games.
The sorting/organizing and categories kit is perfect for all those developmentally delayed and English language learners who struggle with simple vocabulary.
Identifying what goes together and items in a category is a fun way to learn new vocabulary.
The Gruffalo is a great book to read with students and to complete language based activities with the story.
