My students need 43 new children's books and 15 packs of laminating pouches to laminate all of their individual visuals they need to learn and excel in school.
Did you fly through school with little or no challenges, or did you have difficulty in one area or another? Every one of my 75+ students have one or more challenges that affect their learning on a daily basis. Because of their challenges, they need additional support and resources to be successful.
My students are amazing.
Each and everyone of them has one challenge or another, be it a speech impairment, a language delay, a cognitive disability, or Autism. Because of their disabilities, they require daily modifications or adaptations to make them successful learners. Some of these modifications and adaptions may include smaller class sizes, additional time on work, frequent breaks, sensory stimuli, additional resources, or visuals. Our school is amazing too. All of the students at our school are kind, loving, and patient with those students in our school with disabilities. Our administrators, teachers, and staff strive to give each student the necessary tools they need to succeed in and out of the classroom. We believe that all students can learn, and we do our best every day to make sure that they are engaged, responsive, and having fun while doing so!
My Project
My students have an array of different challenges and struggles. When I am buying materials, I try to find items that can be used with many students and not just with a few. By having different books, students can choose topics that interest them, while working on their individual goals. Whether they are working on saying sounds, answering questions, prediciting story endings, or learning new vocabulary words, they can all target their goals through books! In addition, many of my students have been diagnosed with Autism. These students require additional prompts and visuals in order to understand and/or retain the information they have learned. I make most of the visuals so they will be specific to what they are learning. With budget cuts across the board, we no longer have access to color ink and laminating paper at school. We must provide this on our own. I am currently spending around $100 a month of my own money to fund the visuals. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Everyone has heard about the budget crisis that schools all across the country are facing.
Unfortunately, our school has been hit hard also. We no longer receive funds for our classrooms. Anything teachers purchase must be bought with our own money. My students require an array of books and visuals on a daily basis to help them become successful. I desperately need help funding the laminating pouches for these visuals so that they can be saved to use daily or with other students as well!
