Speech Language Therapy in Covidland: High Quality Distance Learning Supports
Help me give my students high-quality, engaging virtual learning experiences. The document camera, TPT cards, books, and supplies will enhance services/virtual visits allowing me to create supplemental materials while supporting meaningful skill building and generalization.
I provide speech, language, communication, and social skills intervention/coaching as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education in east Multnomah County, OR. I serve children ages 0-5 years of age receiving with diverse backgrounds and abilities/challenges. The children I serve are curious, creative, eager, energetic, growing, exploring, and wonderful! Additionally, I collaboratively team with numerous preschool and Head Start teachers and staff to support the children we mutually serve.
I love the community I serve and want to provide high-quality, innovative, virtual services during these uncertain and unsettled times.
As it is uncertain how long services will be virtual, I believe it is imperative to be prepared to use creativity and variety in the tools used to engage and support the children and families I serve.
My Project
Distance Learning/virtual visits can be difficult, but with some creativity and outside-the-box ideas, great things can happen. And, whenever in-person instruction resumes, these materials can still be utilized to create meaningful supplemental materials.
These carefully selected materials will enhance the relationships and services (synchronous and asynchronous) with children/families by increasing engagement (use of doc cam), diversifying my library (books), supporting specific needs (TPT gift cards), and creating family-specific visuals/materials (paper/ink).
I will be able to provide speech language intervention that is fun and engaging with age-appropriate activities while providing services remotely.
