Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students present with severe expressive and receptive language disorders making it very difficult for them to interact with familiar adults and peers, communicate their basic wants/needs/thoughts/and ideas, and understand basic concepts and ideas.
My students are in High School (ages 15-23) and participate in self-contained classrooms.
I primarily help students who have specific learning disabilities, Autism and intellectual disabilities. The ESE team and I strive to teach and provide our students with functional communication skills so they can transition from high school in to the "real world" and become successful adults and competent communicators.
My Project
My students will be able to use the activities to practice everyday life skills such as asking and answering questions, communicating basic wants and needs, interacting in social conversation with peers and adults, understanding information read, expressing new concepts and ideas they have learned, and how to participate and be successful at a supported job site.
