My Students

Speech and language students are all working extra hard to improve their skills this year! They are a fun and sweet group of students. It is so great to have everyone back in the building for in-person learning now so we can work on gaining those early communication skills!

My Project

Speech and language therapy students would love help getting a new iPad for our classroom. Our current iPad is outdated, will not update, or allow us to download new apps. Unfortunately, it is extremely old and decides when it wants to work/not work. The things we could do with a new iPad would be wonderful! Using technology like this in our speech and language therapy lessons facilitates quicker learning. My students are more willing to participate, have higher engagement, and increased attention spans when our iPad is used. Not only this, but there are many new apps to assist in teaching speech sounds and language targets like vocabulary and grammar. I will also use recording features to help students better recognize their errors and see what their mouth needs to be doing when producing a specific sound. They always enjoy and are motivated when watching recordings of themselves!

The students are not the only ones who will benefit from this project, but parents will, as well!

With this iPad, I will be able to post pictures, give updates, and easily provide suggestions to parents on how to target speech and language at home. It will help us all stay connected. This technology will not replace our face-to-face learning, but will only enhance it.
