My students need Scholastic News and BrainPop to incorporate science and social studies into our reading and writing curriculum. Students will receive engaging lessons and make connections in multiple content areas. We also need a stability ball for flexible seating.
When you walk into our classroom you will be greeted by sixteen energetic students eager to learn. Our school is located in a trauma sensitive, rural community. We are a co-taught classroom where the students are lucky enough to have two teachers, one regular education teacher and one special education teacher.
Our classroom is made up of a variety of learners with different needs.
With the extra hands of another teacher in the classroom we are able to help reach more students academically and provide more detailed instruction.
My Project
This year I am incorporating reading and writing into our social studies and science curriculum. Brain Pop and Scholastic News will help students understand key science and social studies standards through the use of reading and writing. Students will be able to work together in small groups and a grow academically from each other.
Incorporating reading and writing into our science and social studies curriculum, the students will be able to apply different skills to enhance their learning.
Students will be able to gather information and research topics related to Brain Pop and Scholastic News to create their writing piece. Students will have the opportunity to use their new learning and creativity to create a book and share their learning with other classmates.
I am also working on adding flexible seating into my classroom and providing resources for my students to get excited to read. I am hoping to add a stability ball chair to my collection for students to use that need to relieve some wiggles during workshop time. Students are able to take an active role in their education with the resources geared to help them become successful learners. Through this project students will be able to incorporate reading and writing in all content areas.
