I have the privilege to teach three second grade classes of science and social studies with a non-fiction literacy focus. These subjects are so engaging for my students and it makes them enjoy learning even more.
Many of my students come from lower income homes and school is their "safe place" where they can relax and just have fun learning.
My students work hard every day to succeed and I am responsible to foster their love of learning.
Science and social studies are unique subjects for these students because it opens their minds to even more possibilities for their futures.
My students and I spend a lot of time on the floor in close proximity for our lessons and our morning meetings. In order to set high expectations for these times my students need the Flagship Dot Spot Rug.
Having the Flagship dot spot rug will give each student his or her very own special space which will allow for a safe space to share and learn each and every day.
Sitting for our morning meeting in a special space helps me teach the students social emotional skills. These life skills are the fundamentals for learning academic skills.
My team is departmentalized meaning I get to teach three classes! That means I have about 75 students in my room each day. Making sure that every child has a special spot helps make our learning more engaging and less time is spent finding a new spot each day.
