My students are special because they love learning! I am a K-3 Literacy Technology teacher. Additionally, I run a coding club for grades 3-5. My students show how much they love learning, because they produce some pretty amazing work!
My students are a diverse group of learners with very different needs, so we're very lucky to have this research and technology class which allows for differentiation through the use of computers.
I teach over four hundred kindergarten through third grade students during the course of a week, so every day is a new and different experience. We are an urban school with students who come from a variety of economic backgrounds.
Our research and technology class puts all of the children on an even playing field. They all learn how to use computers, use computer programs, and apply research strategies. The children love choosing research topics and publishing their work. Additionally, we introduce children to computer science by providing experiences with coding. They take pride in their work, and I hope to inspire them to continue to want to learn about the world around them.
My Project
I am requesting two small sofas for my carpet area. My carpet area has become a new hands-on learning area where kids can explore with coding materials. I'd like the sofas to be an additional option for seating while they are working in the carpet area since their only option currently is to sit on the floor. The really cool thing about these sofas is that they are a simple metal frame with a durable fabric cover that can be tossed in the wash!
These sofas will create a more inviting space for learning.
I want my students to feel comfortable working in the carpet area. Kids can have a comfortable seat while programming robots. These sofas will also be the perfect space when kids need to talk about their feelings, deal with an issue, or take a break to refocus. I want my students to feel comfortable and ready to learn in my classroom!
