My building is a focus school located just next door to the city of Detroit. Our school provides all of our students with free breakfast, lunch, and a safe and secure learning environment.
I have made it a point to ensure that each child that walks through my classroom doors receives the same education as any child in the more affluent suburbs.
The children in my room are Autistic. Most of my children have severe impairments that affect their cognitive ability. As a first year self-contained educator, I'm starting my classroom from the ground-up and attempting to build a solid foundation and create a nurturing environment.
The children in my Autism Center-Based classroom like to move it! We currently have two very large yoga balls that they love to fight over, especially during whole group activities.
You can help give each child the ability to fidget away the squirmies with the addition of these yoga-ball chairs!
I've requested seven junior sized stability balls that will stay in place when not in use, but also allow our little squirmers some freedom to move while working.
By contributing to our classroom project, you will be helping our center-based program gain some much needed and updated seating to fit the needs of our students, as well as contributing to our life-skills practice with the addition of a sturdy child size broom and dust pan set for all the after breakfast and after lunch clean-up we do!
