My classroom of 20 children is filled with boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 4 with a large range of abilities and special needs. Although some of them may face delays in speech and developmental they are still a major part of our classroom and their peers work hard to help them feel no different each day.
My students have learned that we all belong and that sometimes some peers need more support and that is okay because we have been put in this classroom to help each other.
Since the start of the school year my students with specials needs have come along way and I am so proud of their hard work. However there are still resources they are lacking in order to continue progressing in the general education setting. These resources would not only benefit them individually but also help in my vision of teaching their general education peers the importance of acceptance and the part we all play in supporting one another.
This project will truly make a difference in the day to day of my classroom. My students will be able to sit together during whole group activities without distractions or difficulties. Knowing that their is a space for them when needed will teach those who need it that they can always be included.
Improving their fine motor and gross motor skills along with supporting their life skills need is my wish for all my students irregardless of their abilities or disabilities.
With the use of pencil grips all of my students will be able to enhance their fine motor skills while practicing their writing. My student will begin to feel empowered and capable of more with the items in this project.
