Special Projects Supply List for 7th Grade Science
My students need 18 timers, 33 fetal pigs, a set of energy/global warming research books, and density/volume kits to conduct science inquiry/investigation labs during the year.
My district does not provide funds for 7th grade science. I have no money to spend for consumable supplies or equipment. I spend money out of my own pocket to supply my students with the inquiry-based lab experiences that are required by the state mandated frameworks.
I have 125 seventh grade students who come from diverse backgrounds.
Many of my student come from low socioeconomic families. My students lack many of the educational experiences that are offered in larger school districts in the area. The middle school is composed of grade 6-8.
My Project
Because of the lack of science funding in my school, I have not been able to provide my students with quality laboratory experiences. These resources will provide my students the means necessary to understand science through hands-on inquiry-based activities. My students really need the timers during labs throughout the year which include calculating time and speed of airplanes that they create. The fetal pigs will be used after our unit on the human body systems. They will be able to dissect the pigs and view each system and how they relate to each other. The energy/weather books will be used as a resource to conduct group research papers during our units on weather and energy. The volume/density sets will be helpful for students to understand the difference between volume and density.
Your donation is greatly needed to provide my students with educational experiences that they would not get without these science supplies.
Because my district provides no funding for 7th grade science, my students would benefit from these supplies so that they could conduct more hands-on inquiry-based lab experiences during the year.
