This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My athletes come from various backgrounds and almost all come from low-income households. My athletes are motivated, energetic, and have amazing personalities. Their hard work and determination is truly an inspiration.
The athletes work hard to achieve their personal best while helping out their teammates.
They show care and concern for others and are able to adjust in times of need. They are supportive of others and are willing to make sure everyone on the team gets a chance to try. From basketball to soccer to track and field, the athletes are ready to give it their all to try and make it to regional and state competitions.
What I love about these athletes is that even though they deal with challenges by not only their socioeconomic status but also their disability, they still come to practice with a positive attitude and are ready to learn every single day, and what better way to help them than to create a space where they can learn and have fun.
My Project
The athletes are very excited to begin their soccer season, but they need equipment to use at practice. Our athletes need soccer balls for practice. These soccer balls will allow students to practice with the same type of balls they will use in competitions. The athletes need goalie gloves to protect their hands from high speed balls. Socks and shin guards will protect their legs during practice and games. We will use the scorecards during games to keep track of which athletes are scoring goals for the team.
The athletes will realize their potential when they have the appropriate materials and equipment to use at practice and in games.
The look of joy on their faces while playing, and even more joy if they make it to state competitions.
