Special Needs Students Need Soothing Sensory Items
My students need Sensory items. These special students have different needs to be able to properly function in a social environment. I have chosen things like the vibrating pillow and chewable pencil tops to promote calm.
I have the most amazing students! We are a part of a special preschool program in our school district that gives priority to three- and four-year-old students with developmental delays and special needs. All students are screened before they are placed in the program, and those that have special needs or developmental delays are given priority in the program.
My students have unique needs and need materials that are as individual as they are.
My goal as a teacher is to create a learning environment for them that allows them to achieve their highest ability and be prepared for the larger responsibilities of kindergarten.
My students have really taught me as much, if not more, than I have taught them, and I LOVE giving them my all!
My Project
I have special needs students who require sensory resources to help them function in a social environment. These students do not know how to calm themselves due to sensory overload and need special resources in order to have a conducive learning experience.
Resources like chewable items, vibrating pillows, and various textures to touch help them remain calm and focus on their learning environment.
Some of these students are nonverbal and they need resources that give them picture cues like the learning schedule magnets I have chosen to help them transition to different activities. My heart holds a special place for these amazing children and appreciates your support in creating an environment in which they can learn to function at their fullest potential.
