Special Needs Multi-Modality Based Center Learning
Help me give my students added materials such as LEGOS and dough to provide access to academic standards through a multi-modality framework. Books will expand our classroom library for precious students with special needs.
Our TK-1 Special Day Class provides a developmentally and individually appropriate academic setting for children with disabilities. Curriculum and services are designed and implemented according to the needs of each child in the program.
Our special and precious students love to read books, draw pictures, build structures, and pretend play throughout the day.
They beam with joy as they proudly identify letters and discover sounds. They love to learn in all academic areas!
Our Special Day Class is the beginning of a child's formal educational career. TK-1 provides opportunities for children to grow and develop physically, emotionally, socially, and academically.
My Project
Donated materials will make a difference by providing supplies that will help students with special needs access Common Core standards in a variety of hands-on ways. Donated books will help my students learn to read!
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own individual reading level.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic and social-emotional achievement.
My students need fine motor skills practice and reinforcement of social skills with the use of imaginative playtime. Play doh and LEGO are used for both these skills. Play doh is also used to help form and make letters and practice letter sounds within academic centers. Legos are also used for math and science in a hands-on center.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given opportunities for multi-modality learning.
