My Students

I am a special education teacher and I work with children with a range of disabilities. I have students with autism, ADHD, intellectual processing disorder, behavioral disorders, and many students that are English Language Learners and speak English as a second language. My students need to experience a classroom that goes beyond pencil and paper. In order for me to go the extra mile and plan activities that are engaging and help them learn I would love to have more technological resources in my classroom. My students come from all different socioeconomic backgrounds but they are a group of brilliant students that genuinely want to learn. They just need the right outlets to show their gifts.

My Project

These iPads would be an incredible resource for my students. They can use them to find thousands of books, use apps for mathematics, read informational text passages with comprehension questions, practice their spelling and writing conventions, and so much more! They would be a wonderful resource for our classroom. The document camera will allow me to model good reading and note-taking strategies for them on our white board as well as clearly showing them step-by-step directions. It will be a much more efficient way for me to model my thinking and have them duplicate the proper approaches into their own instruction.
