Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The school is located in a high-poverty and industrial area in South Central, Los Angeles. Even though the school is surrounded by factories, train tracks, and graffiti, the students feel safe and loved in our school. I have twenty-seven Spanish students learning English as a Second Language. My third grade students are very enthusiastic and proud to complete their goals and assignments at school, but they need to integrate technology in their educational lives. Most of the parents do not provide technology, supplies, and equipment for the students to practice their subjects areas at home and in the class.
My Project
Our school is a Tittle I school, where all of my students are English Learners with a Low Socio-Economic Status that qualified for free breakfast and lunch. In this new school year, I would like to help my students to get the basic school supplies they will need in the classroom so they can have a great start in third grade. Unfortunately, most of my students will not be able to get many of the basic school materials because most parents will struggle to get them for their children. They will need some of the essential supplies like white copy paper, colored copy paper, markers, pens, pencils, sharpeners, and Crayola oil pastels. Having these basic supplies will help my students to be ready and focus on the task at hand and not wasting their instructional time looking for supplies they need in order to do and finish their assignments in class.
