Special Needs Class Needs Music

My students need Boomwhackers (a kinesthetic instrument) to express their emotions with. They have special needs including autism and other communication deficits. This will be great for us.

My Students

My students have trouble expressing themselves verbally. They are often frustrated and lack confidence.

My students have a range of disabilities all concerning communication.

Some have autism and others have specific language impairments. My students get headaches reading, speaking and listening all day. They need an outlet they can excel at. Studies show work with rhythm can improve reading fluency and direction following. Most come from low-income families.

My Project

The Boomwackers are kinesthetic musical instruments for all ages to play. You can knock them against your hand or tap them like an xylophone. I will play the piano as an accompaniment while we learn songs. Hopefully we can put together a performance for the school.

I spend my own money and we fundraise by selling candy to make sure we have the essentials for ELA and math learning but music instrumentals for all is too much for me to budget for. Thank you.
