I have 25 amazing first graders! My students come from a rural community out in Tillamook, Oregon. They are economically and socially diverse, but when we are in the classroom, we are a family.
My students are extremely kind, caring, and thoughtful.
They love to chat with each other and share new ideas. I have several students who require extra personal space, and the other students respect and honor that. I have been so overh=joyed with their ability to care for one another when they sense distress or anxiety.
My group of learners is very hard working. They are persistent and are really working on staying focused. They are an extremely creative and enthusiastic bunch. They love to make things and share with the class.
My students love to chat, collaborate, and are eager to share and learn! We currently have the oldest rug in the building! It is an old hand-me-down area rug from years past. We love our rug because it is where we spend about half our day! The problem is that our rug is old and worn in areas and just not that comfortable to be on! My students with special accommodation needs cannot sit on it for more than 5 minutes. Our class needs a new meeting area that is soft and has neutral colors. The bright colors and thing material of the other rug makes having a morning meeting and in-depth class discussions hard because the students are so concerned with their comfort rather than their learning. I would like to be able to out y students at ease so we can have the opportunity to learn the best we can.
