My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. They are hard-working students who are held to high expectations. Let me tell you a little bit about these special students. My students are nonverbal to limited verbal and each has their individual special needs including social, emotional, sensory, cognitive, fine motor, and gross motor.
These students no longer get to benefit from inclusion due to Covid.
They only receive music every other week. Despite this, they still need enrichment. Please help bring them musical enrichment daily.
My Project
This project is for a special classroom on my campus! I teach music to a special needs classroom every other week. These students used to go to music class with their peers prior to the pandemic. Now they can no longer interact with their classmates and are limited to having music every other week. That being said, I want to provide a deeper musical experience. These musical instruments, magic touch ukulele, drum, piano, other musical toys will do just that! These instruments are perfect for them; and they also have a volume control which will address the noise sensitivity of the students. These students love music! They need music!
Music contributes to the development of children with special needs in terms of feeling a sense of achievement, giving self-confidence, learning developmental skills, enhancing self-esteem, having relaxation, and teaching academic concepts.
During a pandemic is the perfect time to enjoy more music. These pianos and bears will allow these amazing students to explore, create, and enjoy music outside of music class. Please make this possible for them!
