Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Special Education Teacher in a low income, high poverty neighborhood in Texas. We are a Title I school in San Antonio. All of the students I work with qualify for special education services for various reasons. I want to provide them with everything possible to help them stay engaged and excited about learning.
The students all have different learning styles, they come in from the general education classroom to receive small group instruction in a small less distracting environment.
The goal is to establish a classroom where the students will be able to focus on their learning with various options of flexible seating to accommodate their individual needs.
My Project
Our students range from 2nd to 5th graders, who all have different learning struggles. The student gets access to the special education classroom in a small group learning environment with fewer distractions.
Seeking to add more wobble stools for the students to have more choices of seating with a comfortable way to move during small group instruction will certainly keep them engaged in making academic progress in closing their academic gap.
The goal to give the students the options between flexible or traditional seating to optimize their learning environment. This will allow the students to feel that they will be able to obtain academic success.
