This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Special Education Teacher in an Special Day Class at school in a low socio-economic community of farm workers. Our school is a Title 1 school and 100% of our students receive free breakfast and free lunches.

As a result of or their various disabilities, my students struggle with even the very basics of academics, but they work very hard, and they best learn through hands on based projects that I would like to create to enrich their learning.

My Project

These comfortable headphones for my special education students will be able to allow them to listen to our software programs on computers without the distraction of outside noise or background classroom noise. This is so important for my easily distracted students. My students will be able to listen to the alphabet in order to begin to learn their letter names and sounds to begin to read fluently. It will also help them to be able to have access to books read to them as well as text to speech adaptive access for special needs students. Thank you for your consideration.
