This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach special education students in kindergarten-3rd grade. My school is located in the heart of the inner city and has 87% minority enrollment. The students are almost entirely recipients of free and reduced-price lunch. Many of my students struggle with homelessness, food insecurity, and have parents with addictions.
My students work very hard, even though many of them have very little.
I want to give them the best opportunity for success and advocate for them in any way I can.
My Project
My special education classroom is in need of some tech items and special ed specific tools. Some of the items needed are a visual timer for students with autism, headphones so students can learn independently, and an interactive phonics poster for primary students to learn letter sounds.
My students will use these items to work towards getting on grade-level!
We appreciate any and all support. My students get so excited to open new classroom items. We put everything to immediate use and are so thankful that people are willing to help.
