Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Special Education Teacher in a low income/ high poverty neighborhood in San Antonio Texas in a Title one district. I provide special education services to all the students in my campus. I am seeking to provide them with a diverse learning environment to help them stay engaged and excited about learning.
My student all have different cognitive needs who depend on small group instruction and differentiate accommodations.
The goal for my classroom is to establish an learning environment where the student are able to stay on task in providing them with various options of flexible seating to accommodate their own individual needs.
My Project
My caseload of students range from 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders who come into the special education classroom to work in a small group setting at various times of the day. Its an ideal setting since distractions are reduced allowing the student to stay on task and optimize their learning potential.
This would give all the students an opportunity in selecting what seating arrangement would work for them in small group instruction in keeping them engaged in pursuit of their academic progress.
The ultimate goal is to give the students the power in selecting what seating arrangement works for them to be able to obtain academic success.
