Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a fourth grade integrated co-teaching classroom. Our students are an enthusiastic group of students who are learning life lessons! There are two teachers in our classroom. A special education teacher and a general education teacher. We also have many wonderful support staff in and out of our room all day.
We have 32 super motivated fourth grade students who love to learn.
Our environment is made up of a community of learners who love to explore new ideas. We love to learn!
My Project
Students today don't know how to have fun with each other. Many times students are watching television and playing video games. They are not interacting with each other. We are requesting classic board games to teach many skills. For example, the skill of taking turns in a game. Students will learn to love playing these games! We want kids to be kids! We find it is important for them to learn to socialize!
Origami helps students in many ways!
We have a student who rarely speaks. Each week we allow him to work on origami for a full period. He is able to use his hands to create instead of his words! This student has taught the other students how to create origami. It is a new "trend" in the classroom. It is allowing shy students to open up! We are asking for a kit to give each student.
We would also like binders to store all the game rules so they don't get lost! In a classroom, many things get easily lost!
