Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students consist of ninth grade special education students who range from thirteen to fifteen years of age. The are a culturally diverse group of female and male students who all have an identified disability and require specialized instruction and supports in order to make adequate progress toward the general education curriculum. They need repetition, assistive technology, accommodations and modifications with curriculum in order to reach individualized goals and objectives. Often, my students lack the daily supplies and materials that are taken for granted. They are a wonderful group of caring individuals who I am delighted and privileged to be instructing.
My Project
These creative teacher created resources will provide my special education students with fun and engaging opportunities to develop their mathematical insights and understanding. fraction tiles, Buzzers, dice, place value discs, will allow for creative hands on opportunities to model the calculator based lessons. Having a classroom Teacher Set of Texas Instruments Ti-15 calculators with easy to navigate large button color coded functions will allow all students the ability to practice and reinforce basic calculator skills as well as build skills for the future so that they may better understand the functions and components of more sophisticated Texas Instrument graphing calculators.
