My students are excited about having vocational education in our school but they need the tools to help make the program successful.
I teach at a high-needs special education middle school where supplies are extremely limited.
The school educates students with both emotional, physical and learning disabilities, as well as students with Autism. My students enjoy hands on activities that let them have real life experiences.
My Project
I am currently starting my second year of pre-vocational education program. I am trying to obtain any equipment that will provide my students with meaningful hands on learning experiences as well as opportunities to explore different creative outlets. The items I am requesting include; pre vocational work station, a bolt board which will introduce students to hand tools, a workbooks activity book that has many pre-vocational activities in it, chipboard looms that will introduce students to the hands on activity of weaving as well as a pretend cash register and bills, budget and back account activity book that will help students learn about budgeting and real life situations.
As a teacher you want to provide your students with as many meaningful learning experiences as possible.
With the hands on materials I am requesting I can give my students a chance to learn by actually doing and performing pre-vocational activities.
