This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is located within a community that has many daily challenges and often cannot provide the most basic school supplies and furniture needed to run a classroom. I teach in a low income, special education classroom where hands-on learning is very important for the students in my classroom. My students do not have the resources to purchase the basic supplies we need.
Having very basic classroom supplies will allow my students to not think about what they do not have and experience learning through what they do within the classroom.
My Project
My school had to shut down for eleven days to protect our staff and students from COVID19. During this time, my students do not have access to computers. We have gone through all of our copy paper, ink, and other basic supplies. In donating to this project, you are helping my special education students replenish the basic school items we need. My special education students have what they need to complete their at-home instruction; however, when we return to school, basic supplies are limited. Making copies and having simple items such as pencils, scissors, paper, and glue replenished will really help~
