My students need an iPad and speakers to be able to access their individual curricular needs.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
Can you imagine being 10 years old and having a genetic disorder that prevents you from growing taller than a 1st grader and unable to write your name because your muscle tone is so weak? Can you imagine being able to read at grade level but not able to verbally communicate?
My students range in grade levels from 3rd-5th grade and they are all special needs students.
Their needs vary from ADD, Learning Disabilities, Tourette's Syndrome, Anxiety Disorders, rare genetic disorders and Autism. Race and ethnicity are as varied as their disabilities. In addition, 4 of my students are English Language Learners. 50% of my students come from poverty and do not have access to computers at home. My students are very conscientious and excited about learning when they come to school!
For students who aren't able to speak clearly or to write with a pencil, there are special applications that allow users to touch the screen with a light finger touch to learn cursive, to answer comprehension questions across all curricular areas with written words. Children with Autism are very musically oriented. We learn a lot of our core academics through music. Adding speakers to my teacher computer will increase student interest because they will be better able to hear the content from the Internet.
As you can imagine, I have to be very creative in order to help each student reach their individual goals and learning potentials.
Having the correct tools to implement my teaching instruction/skills is extremely important to me as a special educator.
