Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a very lucky art teacher at a low income, special education Chicago public school. My students are in the more severe special education population, so our art is used more for therapeutic purposes. We work on fine motor skills by trying to use paint brushes and squeeze and play with clay. We also work on sensory experiences. Every new thing the child touches causes the neurons in the brain to fire back and forth sending messages about their new experience and stimulating that child. The main part of our art program is clay. There is not a wrong way to work it because you can pound it, squeeze it, and stick your fingers in it. The kids love it. Even more importantly, it helps build strength in their hands and helps fine motor control. I am telling you all of this information because we need glazes to color their beautiful art work. I want our kids to be proud of what they can do and glaze helps them to be. The glaze lets the kids bring life to their work, with colors and imagination. We would like the Amaco Glaze Class pack. Thank you so much for your consideration.
