Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an inclusive group of both general education students and special education students who have a range of needs and learning styles. My students are eager second-grade learners who love school!
Being in and out of school last year has really taken a toll on them, and they are thrilled to be back this fall!
My Project
As we continue to navigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, I am trying my best to make our classroom a safe and engaging learning environment for my students. Unfortunately, these are times in which students are not allowed to carry out some of the classroom jobs they are so proud to take part in. One of these jobs is to hand out assignments, notes to go home, and other important papers. Students in my school will no longer be able to store homework folders and homework notebooks in communal bins - everything must be separated and individualized. With that in mind, I want to make sure that each and every one of my students has their own personal space to keep important papers, assignments, school notices, etc. The adjustable literature organizer will allow me to do just that!
By adding this organizer to our classroom, students will have their very own mailbox which will be used as a place of safekeeping.
This mailbox, unlike their desk, will allow me to give my students a designated place to find important documents. My students will have access to this mailbox throughout the day and upon returning to school in the event that they were absent too.
