This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our elementary school consists of students from grades 3-5. Our school is filled with students who are eager to learn and explore new things. They are in need of a positive role model to help mold and inspire their lives.
Many of our students come from low to middle class income families which may hinder their opportunities outside of school.
Our students love being able to come to school and have all of these resources at their fingertips. I look forward to helping our students grow in all aspects of their lives.
My Project
Our school is looking for a positive role model to come and speak to our students. Chris Singleton is a keynote speaker who travels around speaking about loving others no matter their adversity. Mr. Singleton tells a first hand story about how his life changed because of someone hating a person because of their skin color. Mr. Singleton talks about how
"Nobody chooses their skin color, so why would I ever hate you for yours and why would you ever hate me for mine?"
Mr. Singleton will be able to give a positive approach to how we should treat each other to over 400 students.
