My Students
I work with a group of students that have moderate to severe special needs, such as autism, orthopedic impairment, and cognitive impairments. These students range in age from 5-11
We use a special curriculum that allows the students to interact and answer curriculum questions, but my students have limited access to the world.
Many of my students struggle with loud noises and being around large groups of people. Other students have trouble getting around physically and can become exhausted after a short trip.
My Project
We need 2 iPad minis that can be loaded with communication apps so we can share our thoughts and knowledge with others all day. Currently, we have one iPad at school that we share amongst the class. When we want to practice and share our thoughts we pass it around. This would give us more opportunity to communicate with others.
With additional iPads it would give us the option of taking our devices with us throughout the school day to many different activities.
We could learn to share our thoughts and ideas with others through the day. It would also allow us to practice speaking to each other in our classroom. Communication is such a vital activity and we need opportunities to practice all day long.
