Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

There is nothing worse than working hard to find a great video clip or digital book and then when I use it as part of my lesson and the children can't hear it. The speakers in my computer are not loud enough for an entire class to hear.

I teach 19 kindergarten children in an inner city school with a free/reduced lunch rate of 85%+.

Most of these children come to school with a very limited amount of experiences and background knowledge of most subject matter. They are like a sponge and are ready to absorb whatever I put out there for them. They LOVE to be engaged with the computer and smartboard.

My Project

We use our smartboard daily, almost every lesson. Many of the lessons and presentations do not have audio but the ones that do are a great way to engage the students. These speakers would be used by all students, multiple times a day in order to enhance my instruction.

The addition of speakers to our classroom would change the success of my lesson presentation by 100%.

Many times, even when the children are quite as can be, there is still no way to concentrate on the information being presented because it is so soft.
