Our students are in kindergarten through sixth grades. I want my students to have positive interactions and improve their self-esteem by the end of the year.
We have wonderful children, each with their own story to tell.
They are great children from unique circumstances. We have children from many home settings; some from stable two parent or single parent homes and others may be homeless or living in a space that keeps them free from the elements.
The school provides a welcoming, safe and positive school environment for learning. Teachers and staff match instruction to the needs of all students to meet the needs of many levels of achievement and styles of learning. Our Title I school also provides various supports for struggling students.
My Project
I am looking forward to helping students express themselves in a small group or individual setting. Art therapy is only one tool used to assist in the healing process. I desire to have the materials available for my students.
Having art tools available will give my students the opportunity to draw expressively their feelings.
With these materials available in my office the students will have the flexibility to communicate in a safe and therapeutic manner. These art supplies will be used for specific sessions with the counselor and are not to replace an art class or coloring projects used in the classroom setting.
