Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are some of the most interesting and diverse students in our school in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. We are a class made children with different strengths and needs. I have 6 amazing students with different exceptionalities ranging from Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, to Cerebral Palsy. With these exceptionalities, students need different adaptive materials in order to be successful in the classroom.

Our classroom motto is "We may all be different, but in this school we all swim TOGETHER".

Although every student in my classroom is unique, they all have one thing in common which is a hunger for learning.

My Project

My students are some of the most unique individuals you would ever meet. My students have a genuine love for learning despite the many challenges they face. This year we are focusing on sensory integration in the classroom. Sensory learning is so important to students with exceptionalities because it allows them to engage multiple parts of their brain at one time.

Help us learn start our sensory learning center in our classroom.

We will use the sensory light table during our sensory integration time as well as during math and reading centers. Many of my students are kinesthetic and visual learners and this will help them integrate those learning styles in the classroom. With the sensory manipulatives set, students will be able to have a hands-on approach to learning.
