My Project

I’m a high school librarian working with students who may not always feel confident in their reading skills. More and more students are looking for non-fiction books about the world and history. Help me keep up with their interests!

I want my students to keep reading.

My students are from varying cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and life experiences. They may be reluctant to pick up a book and look like they enjoy reading. I want to help them find a book that keeps them interested to the end! That is an accomplishment they can celebrate.

When students arrive at our high school from a larger high school setting, they generally need more support for academic success. As the librarian, I try to encourage all of my students to become readers by connecting them with interesting topics--shiny books that catch their eye. An edgy topic or title, something they didn't imagine the library might offer, may encourage them to practice their literacy skills.

I’m asking for new non-fiction books on a variety of topics--fashion to animal behavior to horror films. Wherever their interests lay, I want to have something available for them!
