Our students are future health science professionals who have been accepted into our very challenging Academy of Health Science. They are from all types of backgrounds and have a variety of career and life goals, from doctor and pharmacist, to laboratory technician and EMT.
Through their four years our students take a rigorous sequence of courses, participate in a paid health-focused internship, and graduate with advanced certifications that prepare them for college and career.
My Project
In their senior year capstone course, Biomedical Innovations students are asked to choose from a variety of health related books, which they read over the course of the class. They share what they learn with their peers through daily Live Tweets. The final and major component of the project is to create a book review. For many students, reading non-fiction for fun is a new concept. The goal in this project is to offer timely, fascinating biomedical books, and to show students that continuing their education in biomedical science can be informal, and lifelong, all through a love of reading.
